Retro-Reflective Photoelectric Sensors

KALEN Automation offers retro-reflective photoelectric sensors in cylindrical, rectangular and compact housing styles for industrial object detection. These sensors work with an external reflector facing the sensor across the detection path. Choose a housing and reflector arrangement that fit your mounting space, target movement and machine layout. We can review different sensing distances, NPN / PNP outputs, NO / NC switching, 3-wire / 4-wire configurations, cable or connector connections and DC supply requirements. Available combinations depend on the selected model. For conveyor detection, packaging machinery, object presence checks, counting or positioning, share the target size, surface finish, line speed and distance between the sensor and reflector. Transparent or highly reflective objects require model-specific suitability checks. OEM/ODM enquiries are welcome for machine builders and distributors. Applications

Conveyor detection

Discuss detection of objects passing between a sensor and reflector. Include object size, spacing, belt speed and mounting positions.

Packaging machinery

Review package or carton presence checks. Share surface finish and any transparent or reflective targets so the optical configuration can be assessed.

Object presence detection

Provide the smallest object and its travel path, together with the available reflector position and detection distance.

Counting

Specify object spacing and line speed. Confirm response time and output compatibility with the selected counter or PLC.

Positioning

Share the required switching position and repeatability. Review alignment, mounting stability and model-specific performance for your installation.

Available Options

Sensing distance & reflector

Provide the distance between sensor and reflector and the available reflector size. Confirm the rated range with the selected reflector.

NPN / PNP output

Specify the output required by your PLC or controller. Confirm model availability and the correct wiring diagram.

NO / NC switching

Tell us whether normally open (NO) or normally closed (NC) operation is required. Confirm the model’s light-on/dark-on switching behavior for your application.

3-wire / 4-wire

Share your required wire configuration and controller connection. Available combinations depend on the selected model.

Cable / connector

Request a cable or connector connection and provide cable length or connector details. Confirm availability before ordering.

DC supply voltage

Provide your required DC voltage. Confirm the recommended model’s rated operating voltage and electrical limits.

Confirm sensing distance, target suitability, reflector type, dimensions and electrical specifications for the exact model. Photographs show an illustrative sensor and reflector arrangement; included accessories are confirmed in the quotation.
